Physical Therapy

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapists are movement experts who help to improve the quality of life. This is accomplished though many different techniques including exercises, hands-on care, and patient education. After a decline in health, which may include an injury, medical event, or hospitalization, the doctor may prescribe physical therapy. For those patients that are unable to leave their home, a home health physical therapist can come to them!

At Guardian Angel, we have a staff of well-trained physical therapists (PTs), and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) that are excited to be able to assist our patients reach their goals of improving their strength, balance, endurance, gait, and/or range of motion. We begin with a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of the patient in their home environment. We want to address any issues we find with safety and function. We will work with the patient and the family to come up with a plan of care that fits their needs.

The plan of care is developed with the patient's diagnosis, and individual ability in mind. Our team has appropriate equipment such as TheraBand, dumbbells, rest orator bikes, balance pads and boards, and Thera putty. This is sufficient for those patients who are not well enough to leave their home yet and are trying to get back on their feet to possibly progress to a more rigorous treatment setting such as outpatient physical therapy. In other cases, the patient may not be able to return to community and a more subtle approach is warranted with just bed mobility and PROM. Whatever the case may be, we want to facilitate the best experience possible and make therapy fun for the patients! We look forward to working with you or your loved ones here at Guardian.
